Sanrio offers up Hello Kitty body fat meter

For those of you still itching to get in on the Wii Sports exercise regimen, but are without any way to measure how many pounds you'll actually melt off, Sanrio's got you covered. Sure, you could waltz right into just about any retailer and pick up a vanilla scale, but the Hello Kitty body fat meter weighs your body in a whole new dimension of cute. Available in a trio of versions ranging from digital to analog to an actual "cooking" version, the device doesn't actually function any differently than the non-adorable varieties, but who wouldn't be motivated to shed a few pounds and have Hello Kitty smile back at you in celebration? The BF-071-KT scale (pictured) should be available in Japan soon for a price (¥6,000; $49) that only the passionate could appreciate.

A healthy range for women under 40 is between 21 & 33%. However, I have a Tanita & it is not the most accurate on the planet (a caliper measurement is better).

However, as was mentioned above- since Hello Kitty has no mouth it's surprising that she's middlin' in the healthy range. Must be the intravenous injections of "super cute" that keep her up & running.

Trust me, there are some who are ridiculously fat; westernization of urban japan isn't neccesarily a good thing. Of course,its waaaaaay better than here in the fattest country of the world; USA

I agree - give it 30 years and they'll be as fat as we are.

Remember, in the 1970's, we were as thin as they are now (on average). The obesity problem we've got *did* coincide with the rise in fast food along with these humongous portions you get at family restaurants these days. All of that is now happening in Japan. They are us in the 1970's right now. It's all downhill from here. (And yes, the average weight there really is rising.)

So get yourselves to Japan and enjoy it while it lasts. Unless you're into fat chicks, of course; hey, whatever floats your boat.

at first glance, I saw what looked like a regular scale w/ hello kitty on it, and a weight measurement of 283lbs.
I suddenly got a vision in my head to which I am now mentally scarred.
