Pulling the perfect pint -- manually or otherwise -- seems to be
something of a long standing obsession across the pond, and more than one
beer-pouring robot and device has
been
whipped up in occasion of this grand
pursuit. The latest, Hermann, is the fruit of the efforts of one Professor Thomas Weber and his 23 scients students at
the German Technical University of Darmstadt, whom set out to design a robot that would cost under $90 US that could
pull the perfect pint. Can Hermann really do it? Weber says so -- but he's not sharing sharing much in the way of the
secret of their success. (The device pictured is David Stevenson's homer, from 2004.)

So in which country has this happened?
The technical University fd Darmstadt is located in Germany, Dutch refers to the Netherlands and because the costs are given in pounds i would guess it is in the UK...

The perfect pint would not consist of Tennants cat's piss

Here's my one and only comment...It doesn't matter if you pull the perfect head on a beer, if you serve said beer warm its going to taste like urine anyway.
Cheers.

Well, Darmstadt is in Germany, and the University in Darmstadt thus is a German University. Darmstadt is about 220 kilometres away from the Dutch border.

There's a better account of the beer-pouring inventions with relevant pics at http://www.spiegel.de/unispiegel/wunderbar/0,1518,401127,00.html (German). They also feature the world's best beer, Rothaus Tannenz?le.

The problem is that a german's perfect beer is probably not the same as your own. They like a ton of head! Lots of American's prefer no head at all.

Ahem... It's 'who', not 'whom'.

That pic looks like a tramp and Blue Peter presenter got together one evening and came up with a "brilliant idea"
